Founded
in New York City in 2001, the company has
touched the lives of youngsters in all five boroughs as well as on Long Island and in Westchester. Our active repertoire includes "The
Nutcracker," "SwanLake," "The
Unicorn's Secret," "Romeo & Juliet," "Sleeping Beauty," "Latin Dances," and “Around the World in Dance.” We welcome special
needs children and English Language Learners to participate.
In
2007, we created a program for the children of Homes for the Homeless in the Bronx. In 2010, we began working with the Haven Academy in the Bronx, a charter school for the children of the New York Foundling Home.
Ballet
Ambassadors fulfills the New York State Learning Standards for the Arts and the
Strands of the NYC Department of Education Dance Programs Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. We also use the NYC DOE Dance Reflection Tool.
We
have a valid Requirements Contract with the DOE and we are listed in the Office of Arts and Special Projects
catalog. Ballet Ambassadors has received top marks on evaluation forms, along
with e-mails from teachers, administrators, and letters from the children
attesting to the transformative power of the Ballet Ambassadors experience. We
have been favorably covered in New York Newsday, Dance Teacher, The Southampton
Press, and The Easthampton Star. News 12 Long Island aired a segment about us
and Bronx News 12 covered us twice.
