World Dance Residency
A multi-week residency tied into the social studies curriculum. Children learn indigenous dance forms to music from cultures around the world.



Aboriginal Dance from Australia to the music of the didgeridoo with native chanting and clap sticks

 

Chinese Ribbon Dance from Asia to Chinese flutes and strings

 

West African dancers from Africa to African drumming

 

Italian Tarantella dancers from Europe to Western orchestral music with tambourines

 

Argentine Tango dancers from South America to the music of renowned composer Astor Piazolla on the bandoneón

 

U.S.A. Hoedown dancers from North America to a pops orchestral arrangement. This dance has audience participation at the end with clapping and hand gestures plus a surprise entrance by the boys riding hobby horses.

 

Finale: All the dancers with a penguin as a guest dancer from the seventh continent, Antarctica
